2014 Hopes, goals and dreams.

2014 will be an exciting year for us. We will be buying our first home! I know this can be stressful but I'm trying to make it as smooth and stress free as possible. There are a few things I want to change and make happen this year. I never write my resolutions down so I'm hoping writing them down will help. I am also going to try to do a monthly update on them. So here we go...

  • Lose 25 pounds. I want to lose a lot more than that in the long run but I am always so focused on the big number that the smaller achievements get lots. So I'm setting a very reachable goal for the year.
  • Put more money into savings. With buying a new house I know we will need our savings built up more for anything that can go wrong. I want to be as prepared as we possible can.
  • Only eat out once a week. This was NO problem while Richard was deployed, but it seems like since he's gotten home we eat out all the time! Plus, keeping up with this resolution will help with both of the first two. So win win. :)
  • Make our house a home. With buying our first house we will finally be able to do anything we want to it. This is very exciting and a little intimidating to me. But I can't wait to get started!
  • Complete one major craft project. Not sure what I want to do yet.
  • Get and stay organized. Key word STAY. I dont have a problem getting that way. Its staying that way. But what better time to start than with a move?
  • Relax more, and stop sweating the small stuff. I need to remind myself that my time with my boys at home is almost halfway over. I want to slow down and stop worrying about everything unnecessarily and start focusing on enjoying my family more.
  • Family day/night once a week. Whether its going out, staying in with a movie and popcorn, game night. Whatever it is, I just wanna spend more time just enjoying them.
  • Date night once a month. Richard and I used to try to do this but we need to get back into the habit again.
  • Be complete unpacked within 6 weeks. Yes I know, to some this seems like way TOO long. But for us this will actually be an accomplishment.
  • Blog twice a month. At least. I need to get back in to blogging, but I don't want to spend all of my time doing it either, so twice a month is a very doable goal.
  • Read 12 books. That's not near as many as I'd LIKE to read but with working full time, moving, and everything else I want to accomplish, I'd day 1 book a month is good enough. :)
And that's how I'd LIKE my 2014 to go. I know it probably wont go as planned. Things never do. But I'd like to accomplish all of these things. I think I set reachable goals, that will allow me to do most if not all of it.

2013... A year in review

2013... What a year!!! Despite the fact that my husband was gone for about 9 1/2 months of it I actually had a great year! We had a lot of changes in our house and a lot of good times with only a few bad. Here's looking back at our year.

January:

WE MOVED! Yep. In the freezing rain. We (or more I with the help of our AMAZING family) moved in to the house we were planning on buying... more on that later. January was spent packing, unpacking, and cleaning. And care package making of course :)

February:

Pretty fun month! I spent a TON of time with my twin. :) We went shopping once a week, had a girls night in, took the boys to the circus, and went bowling for the nephews birthday. I spent Valentines day at home eating pizza and watching movies with my boys and my dad. At about 830 that night I FINALLY got my flowers from the hubs. I got a new phone, and joined weight watchers. Plus I helped my mom paint 3 rooms in her house. I died some of my hair pink and LOVED it.

March:

I volunteered at my kid's walk-a-thon with the twin. Had fun doing the Cha Cha slide and embarrassing my oldest. I mean, what kind of mom would I be if I didn't embarrass them once in a while? And I started volunteering at my kids school every other Friday. I went to the Casey James and Corey Crowder concert at my twin's job. LOVED IT. Had another girl's night out, and went bowling. And spent Easter with the fam. :)

April:

I started doing date nights with my boys every other week. We saw quite a few movies. Also started doing Friday night movie night with them. We'd camp out in the living room watching movies and eating popcorn pretty much every Friday. Thats probably one of the things I miss most that we don't do anymore since the Hubs is home. Trying to get back in to that again. :) Cleaned out the garage so I could start getting my car in there since we were going to have a hail storm. And I've been parking in there ever since. Can't get me outta there. Experimented with a couple new hair styles. Put purple AND blue in my hair... again LOVED it! Had a sleep over with the nephews and spent more time with my twin. Put together our new kitchen set... ALL BY MYSELF! I can be handy when I want to.

May:

Sent daily gifts to the boys teachers for a week, for Teacher Appreciation. My kids have been pretty lucky with some awesome teachers. Started looking for a job. Which of course meant getting rid of the colorful hair. Sad Sad day in the Scroggins House. Went with Black instead. :) Took the boys to Trail Days, which is a little carnival here in town. So over rated. They didn't have much fun either so we left, went and got lunch and went home. Took the boys out for snow cones for the last day of school.  Went on our 2nd annual Memorial Day float trip to kick off the summer. So much fun!

June:

Went to the zoo with my Dad, twin and all 4 boys. Went to the Yellow Ribbon Ceremony, and took the twin along. It's something the reserves does when the soldiers are deployed since they don't have the sense of community like Active Duty does. I was pretty surprised it was actually a TON of fun. Took the boys to the drive in with the twin. LOVE that we have a drive in movie theater again. Went swimming... A LOT. And the twin didn't even go and shatter her heel again and no boys tried to drown... SCORE!!! Went to Big Splash about once a week. We got season passes. SO WORTH IT! My oldest turned 8! EIGHT!!! REALLY??? Where'd my baby go?

July:

Freedom fest with the fam! Lots of fun. Free food, and games for the boys. Then they put on a HUGE fireworks display. 4th of July festivities at my moms. We go over there every year and swim, grill out, and set off our own fireworks. One of the best things about living outside city limits. I GOT A JOB!!! I'm an escrow assistant at a Title Company. My first full time job EVER... still trying to get used to that. Had the boys Turtley Awesome Birthday Party at Laser Quest. Their birthdays are only a month and a half apart so if they want big expensive parties we try to do joint ones. Much easier especially since they have most of the same friends. Went and floated the river for the 2nd time this summer for a friend of our's birthday.

August:

I TURNED 26!!! Yep lots of birthday festivities. Including a spa day with the twin and floating the river for our birthday. It was a SUPER fun trip even if some d-bag almost drown my twin and I almost had to beat him to death. But that's okay. Karma wins ever time. And we had a fun game night at the twin's on our birthday. Drinks and guitar hero. My kinda party. :) The boys started back to school. My youngest turned 7!!!!.... Again... where in the world has the time gone? How are my babies so big already??? Did my first 5K! The Glow Run. So we didn't exactly run... per doctor's orders still no running for the twin... that's what happens when you shatter your heel. But I'm still really proud of us for doing it and can't wait to do more.

September:

We went to the fair! I LOVE the fair. We usually go at least a few times but this year we only went twice. This month was spent preparing for Richard to come home. Getting things ready around the house and saving money. I started my out side project and cleaning up the yard.

October:

My dad came over 2 weekends in a row to help me in the yard and my flower beds. We tore out a bush and TONS of monkey grass, dug it all up and planted pretty flowers. RICHARD CAME HOME FROM AFGHANISTAN!!! Literally the best part of my entire year!!! The weekend after he came home we took a motorcycle trip to Eureka Springs. Tons of fun. We stayed in a gorgeous log cabin and spent the days riding and exploring the town. We also had his Welcome Home party. It was a blast as usual. We had a daytime party for the family and kids. And a night time friends only party that was not so kid friendly. :)

November:

Richard and I decided to move. Not loving the 2 story thing. Hate our lot, and Richard doesn't enjoy the neighbor thing. So we started looking for a house. Celebrated my mom's birthday with burgers and presents at my brother's house. We had 3 Thanksgivings. 2 on Thanksgiving day. We do go to his parent's and I host for my family. Then my twin and I went Black Friday shopping. We shopped from 6 pm to 2 am. Lots of fun, lots of great deals. But man were my feet SORE! After coming home and sleeping for a bit I went to my brother's house to spend Thanksgiving with them and my dad. It was his first time cookin the turkey and he did a GREAT job!

December:

Put our all the Christmas decor up. Chippy our elf came... must say I kind of failed at this this year. He's also still kind of here. And we'll just leave it at that. Richard and I got a realtor, found a house we love and put in an offer. We didn't get the house as cheap as we would have liked but we accepted their counter offer and are now in the process of buying the house. It literally has EVERYTHING Richard and I both want in our price range. Best part? It's on 3 acres. Super excited for that. Going from .18 to 3? Gonna be weird but we are REALLY excited. Only had 2 Christmases this year. Which I LOVED. Not gonna do the running around on Christmas thing any more. Rung in the new year with the hubs, kids, twin and her bf (we kinda love him), the nephews and a friend of ours.

And that is our year in a nutshell. It was a GREAT year, with literally one of the funnest summers of my life. There were some hard days, and I didnt get everything I wanted done, but I'm focusing on the amazing parts and looking forward to another great year!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Week 24!

Another week down. I am a little bit late writing this post. I usually try to do them on Fridays but this Friday was beyond busy. So much has changed this week. I am more stressed and excited and nervous than I have been in a LONG time. No he's not coming home right now. Although I will have these same feelings then as well. These are always the feelings I get when we are starting a new chapter in our lives.

This week I:

  • Watched my nephews. The boys LOVED their sleepover. We made a huge pallet on the living room floor and they stayed up watching movies and eating popcorn!
  • Went out to lunch with my twin and all 4 of our boys. They had a BLAST!
  • Got growled at by some weird little kid at McDonald's. This was after he yelled at me and said he was gonna have his mom have the manager kick us out. All for me telling him to leave my kids alone who were 5+ years younger than him. KIDS THESE DAYS!!! If I'd done any of this when I was their age I would have gotten my ass beat! My kids still would!
  • Had Twin Time!!! We went and saw the host and went to lunch. With a TINY bit of shopping thrown in there!
  • Found out we were approved for the MAP program. Which means I can get a job now. Which also means I have to dye my hair back normal :/
  • Volunteered at my kids school.
  • Met with our MAP counselor. So glad to finally have a plan and know what we need to start doing.
  • Lost 3 pounds!!!
  • Sent out another care package. Really hoping he loves this one!
  • Mowed the lawn! I really hate mowing the first time of the season. But it had to be done. And I'm not gonna waste money on hiring someone else to do something I can do. Especially now that my new landlord (aka my MIL) is not a super crazy lawn Nazi like my last one. Yes they were good landlords but OMG, the yard had to be mowed and weed-eated at LEAST once a week. I'd rather do it every 10 days or so but NOPE! That wasn't good enough. Here, it is. So that's another plus of moving!
  • Got new books for the 3 of us! LOVE that my boys got my love of reading!!!
  • Started a consequence jar. I'll make another post about that later :)
  • Got sucked in to Inferno... Love the Chronicles of Nick Series!
  • Read 4 chapters of The Hunger Games with my boys.
All in all its been a really good week. Super crazy. Super busy. Lots of changes to come! So- wish me luck int he job hunt! Hopefully it doesn't take me TOO long to find something!

And of course pictures of our week :)
Sneak Peek at this weeks box
I really hate that they have video games at McDonald's but at least they were sharing. And they mostly played on the playground.

Movie Time!
2 down 2 to go
Finally All Out!!!
